PAQA meeting

Always so inspirational. Large group today, tons of show and tell. I forgot my camera, but I was too busy selling fabric, talking about my upcoming classes, and getting suggestions on how to quilt my new pieces, I wouldn't have had time even to just point and shoot !!! So here's a few links for you to go and check out some members great quilt art. All 4 of these gals teach and win awards !!! Maggie Weiss, Anne Lullie, Judy Zoelzer Levine, and Wendy Butler Berns, enjoy.

PAQA Meeting

PAQA, The Professional Art Quilt Alliance was formed in January, 1993 by Barb Albrecht,
Maureen Bardusk,
Melody Johnson, Ruth Reyonlds, and Laura Wasilowski. Click the link for a slide show of current members work.
All the founders had been members
of other quilt organizations but felt the need to develop a new group with specific aims for
the innovative art quilt and art garment field.
The current Midwest group meets monthly at
the Glen Ellyn Library, a westerly suburb of Chicago.
Members come from Wisc, Iowa,
Indiana, and of course, IL.
Since the meeting begins at 10 am, many are on the road at a
very early hour. Why do they come? What do we do?
Bring work and show work
Encourage new artists in the field
Network
Discuss professional issues
Share wisdom and experience

OUT OF THE STUDIO FOR REFUELING

Today a trip with fellow fiber artist and instructor at TLD,
Joy Lavrencik.
We went to Old Town Bloomingdale to see PAQA friends and their art.
Opening reception for"Women Packing Irons"
Quilt Arts from the Chicago School of Fusing.

A big plus, in a separate room, part B of the traveling Quilt National 2007.
No photos were allowed in there, sorry, but you can buy a book with pretty good photos of all the quilts at the Quilt National Website
You can also see lots of them on the website and/or find a link to the individual artist's websites.

Here's the lovely Frieda Anderson, next to her prize winner
Whispering Pines, Judges Choice IQA Houston 2007.
These four were in attendance and happily agreed to a photo op.
Anne Lullie, Frieda Anderson, Emily Parsons, Judy Coates Perez.
I promised I would not blog any bad ones. I keep my promises.
